One option is to remove the recent update that has been pushed out by Microsoft to Outlook 2013 and Office 365 users. There are a few ways to resolve the issue: Uninstall the recent updates (KB2837618 or KB2837643) This issue with Microsoft Outlook 2013 and Office 365 will cause IMAP folders to not successfully synchronize, therefore inhibit your ability to receive new mail to your inbox. If you cannot avoid the update, we will provide you with further steps regarding a temporary fix for the issue. If you have not already done so, please avoid this update for a bit until Microsoft corrects the issue. This issue is caused by installing one of the following updates that have been pushed out by Microsoft on 11/12/13: This appears to be happening across all hosts due to a recent update that Microsoft has pushed out to all of its users. Maybe this wasn't much of a problem back in the 1800s or early 1900s when everything was more local, but now we live in a global world. It has come to our attention that many Outlook 2013 and Office 365 users are having issues within synchronizing IMAP folders recently. "Sorry I can't because then it would overlap with another recurring meeting I have at that time." "Sorry we can't participate in that weekly meeting anymore because now it overlaps with another meeting here. Twice a year always the same problem (actually, four times with the Americans because they shift time on a different date): Indians (who never shift time) or Americans (who shift it on a different date than EU, as this thread demonstrates). I've mentioned it before but the time shifting is a true pain in the ass for me when trying to agree on recurring international meetings with e.g. I recall when Russia abolished daylight saving time shifting, at first they had daylight saving (summer time) all the time, but later changed back to normal time (for the whole year). in which timezone each country decides to live (e.g. shifting time twice a year, between daylight saving time and normal time. The only benefit I keep hearing is indeed that some people like to get out of work "one hour earlier" in order to get one more hour of sunlight in the evening.Īlso as said, I think these are two different discussions (albeit related): That is probably why the EU commissioner didn't try to claim (anymore) that it saves energy. That article claims that there are energy saving benefits and the opponents simply call them "inconclusive", but even the EU commission itself agrees nowadays that any energy saving benefits of daylight saving are miniscule, if even that.

MightyPinecone: Whether an EU commisioner could come up with a reason is neither here nor there, but there are reasons. It just is what it is apparently, status quo.įull support from me! Two thumbs up, right up in the ass! the EU commissioner just gave her a blank face, he couldn't come up with any reasons why changing clocks twice a year is such a damn great idea. When she was interviewed about this, she mentioned that when she was discussing with a member of the EU commission about it and finally asked what are the logical reasons to have daylight savings. If they promise to get rid of daylight saving, I'll promise to vote for the Green Party at least in next two elections. but at least in this case they are really in the good cause. Heidi is from the Green Party (the tree huggers) for which I don't necessarily care that much overall. So the madness has to stop in the whole EU zone before we can get rid of it. Too bad Finland can't stop using it alone as some stupid stupid STOOOOOOOPID EU directive forces us to use it. :P I was overjoyed to read a few weeks ago that a Finnish EU parliament member (Heidi Hautala) is strongly campaigning and trying to abolish this stupid "dayligh saving" foolishness in the EU zone. TinyE: Again, these are all 1st World Problems and I don't want anyone in this thread taking it too seriously.
